how to behave less self-centeredly in casual conversation:

~ try asking people about themselves and then listening to the answer and responding to that answer either with another question or from material from what they said
~ make a serious attempt to let people finish speaking, in general
~ when someone starts describing something bad they’re experiencing that you’re also experiencing try to make the FIRST SENTENCE not about you at all and instead offering them comfort.
~~~then you can go into your personal experience to help them relate if you want to, but recognize they are venting to you and that this is not the time for you to also vent.
~ in general take turns listening and talking in conversations
~ recognize that on the whole your thoughts and opinions arent really all that valuable or important to the majority of society, and if someone is listening to you and supporting you, you better be doing the same amount of labor towards them in either a similar or different axis, because that attention and that love is special and you better let them know they are valued for it

Thursday is Bonus Material day, but also happens to be Thanksgiving. So here’s something warm and cozy, soft and sweet, for your holiday.

I know it might be a rough one this year for a lot of people, with family that may not understand or accept you. Stay strong, be safe, and know that I’m thankful for all of you, OK?

I know I’ve posted the picture here before, but I thought I’d reblog for the sentiment. And also because a little cuteness always helps me out, mentally.
